TasTAFE Step out in Bricks program
During this week, 11 Grade 10 students have participated in the TasTAFE Step out in Bricks Program sponsored by the ABBTF (Australian Brick & Block Laying Training Foundation Ltd). This is our schools third year of involvement in this pre-apprenticeship taster program and it has been an excellent introduction to brick and block laying for our students with one of our students from last year landing an apprenticeship as a result of his efforts during the course.
Students who successfully complete all the requirements of this course including following instruction and time management will receive a Certificate of Completion from the ABBTF, which will be a valuable addition to their Resume!
The five day course (compacted to four due to the student free day tomorrow) has given the students the skills to easily put into practice at home what they have learnt with projects such as a brick bbq or small retaining wall.
Thank you to Mr Paul McKay and TasTAFE for giving our students this excellent opportunity!
